Par for the Course

If you’ve been a long-time reader here at the HoZ, you know that my sister and I have our differences.  Won’t go into examples today, because I’m not worked up and needing to rant.

But today I get an invitation to her husband’s college graduation (he went back to school and is graduating summa cum laude…kudos to him).  My sister addressed the invitations.  And spelled my last name incorrectly.  The last name I’ve had for almost twelve years.  Sheesh.

    RSVP in the affirmative, but tell them we’ll need gas money, a vehicle to borrow and $100 worth of fees and expenses paid up front. ;)

    @BR: LOL!

    @missus hoo: sounds like something my family would do!

    Heh! Maybe she is really stupid, or just has a bad memory. Heck, half the time I call my little brother’s wife by the first name of either his first, or second wife (she’s the third, and hopefully last).

    She giggles because she is a helluvagal, and knows I love her, and that it’s not intentional. (Heck, I call my 4 sons the wrong name half the time, too).

    But, I do know how to spell her last name. Of course, it is also my last name, so I guess I don’t get any Brownie points on that one.

    I am not surprised given what you’ve posted in the past.

    I think you should spell her name wrong on the invitation back. Her first name.

    My SIL, who I adore, spelled my last name wrong (a completely different ending of the two-syllable name!) for about 28 years until I finally alerted her to it. She was so mad at me for letting it go that long!

    It’s funny because my maiden name is long, and German. Having married into that name, she had to practice its spelling. I guess everything after that was too much work.

    My own Aunt, whom I have known all my life still can’t spell my first name correctly. So about 5 years ago I started spelling her first name wrong, she got mad.

    I said “seriously”, she got even madder.

    Screw them all.

    Learn the freedom of choosing your family members and walking away from what mother nature gave you to deal with FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. Trust me. I KNOW.

    Actually, I’m getting better about this as the years go by…maybe I’ll get to ‘blissfully’ unaware eventually.

    Send the RSVP back with her first name spelled incorrectly.
