I’m still here…

I just forget to come here, sometimes. Time-suck FB takes away from the contemplative nature of this blog. I have instant interaction with a variety of people, and as humans, we love immediate feedback.

But I don’t need to forget about this place. This is much more personal, more introspective, more revealing.

I’ve had an idea I’ve been rolling around in my brain as I realized how much FB takes away. I’m going to try to write a letter to family members and friends. Each letter a different post. Sometimes, we don’t say what needs to be said…I need to take time to say some positive things.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch…

Work is going good. Very, very, very busy, but good. Principal Minerva is a wonderful person. It’s amazing how much morale has increased in just a few weeks. Very much a ‘we’re in this together’ approach instead of ‘you won’t like what happens if things don’t improve’ approach. It’s so refreshing. The only thing she has done that I don’t like is that she put a snack machine in the teachers’ lounge. NOOOOOOOOooooo!!!!! Don’t put the temptation of chocolate before me whenever I go to the bathroom!!

Speaking of work…we were practicing dictation using spelling words this week. The sentence was, ‘The big fish has a black tip on its fin’. One student wrote ‘has black tits’ instead of ‘tip’. So I restated it for him, emphasizing ‘A BLACK TIPPPPPPPP’, having him say it, too. He erased ‘has black tits’ and wrote ‘has a black tit’. Male minds, lol!

Okay…I’ll be back. Need to listen to TS Karen reports. Think we’ll be just fine, just worry about the amount of rainfall from this system.

But I’ll be back. Promise. And thank you, Rita, for prodding me to get back to this space!

    Thank God for Principal Minerva!

Watching Karen… hopefully she won’t impact anyone too much… winds are only 40mph this morning.

Glad you were able to correct the boy’s grammar!

Love this story. My 11 yo grandson got in trouble a few weeks back because he and another boy drew some male and female parts on some stick figures.

I figure the apple doesn’t fall far from the grandfather.

When I catch students making ‘those’ kinds of drawings, I have to judge their reactions and how the drawing is portrayed. I have had some draw such things and are just kids being kids. Other ones, though, I’ve had to call in for possible molestation.
